What's new
Written for anyone using this showcase or copying from it — not a commit
log. See CHANGELOG.md at the repository root for the full maintainer-facing
history, including internal refactors with no visible effect.

Added
-
Choose the font in Customise: the modern pairing, Inter, or your device's own. Charts follow it too.
-
A new set of 15 accent colours in the customiser, evenly spread round the colour wheel and equally strong, each readable in light and dark. Red is left for warnings.
-
Every link and button says what it's for to a screen reader, even when its visible text is short: "Suspend" reads as "Suspend Amara Okafor".
-
Audit log (Settings, administrators only): every change to people, security, settings and money, with what it was before and after. Filter by words, type and dates. Nobody can edit or delete an entry.
-
Accepting an invitation, plus clear pages for a link that has expired, has already been used, or doesn't work.
-
Four more emails, each with a plain-text version: invitation, confirm your email, account locked and a daily summary. All the emails now match the app's colours.
-
Removed people (Users, administrators only): everyone removed from the organisation, who removed them and when, and a Restore button. The owner can also delete someone permanently, after seeing what goes and what stays and typing their email address.
-
Remove on a person's page, alongside Suspend.
Changed
-
Kanban columns have their own tint again, so they stand out from the page.
-
The API has its own reference page (
/api-reference, under Developers): every endpoint, its parameters and example answers, with a Try it button that sends a real request. It replaces the old Swagger page. -
The guide now sits in the app with the menu round it.
-
The map has a panel beside it: search by name or town, tick the types you want (each shows how many), and pick a place to see it on the map.
-
Lists can be shown as a list or as tiles, with page numbers, on Users, a profile's Projects and Connections, and Invoices.
-
Every icon button explains itself when you point at it or tab to it. Press Escape to close the hint.
-
A new look. Cooler, lighter neutrals, cards that lift off the page, a floating top bar, the current page shown as a filled pill, and labels in ordinary sentence case. Headline numbers have a coloured icon and a small "up 7.4%" style badge.
-
The marketing page is now the product page (
/product). The old address takes you there.
Added
- Customise (top bar, or
/customiser). Choose the theme, a colour, how panels look, where the menu sits (down the side, a narrow strip of icons, or across the top), how wide the page is and how tightly it's spaced. Changes apply as you choose them and are remembered on this device. Reset puts everything back. - Open and close the side menu with the button at the left of the top bar. It stays the way you leave it.
- Account and people pages: account settings (your details, security, billing, notifications, connections), a profile, a list of users with filters, a person's page, and roles with what each can do.
- Pricing, checkout and invoices. Payment hands over to the payment provider's own secure page, so card details are never entered here.
- Two more dashboards (sales and learning) and a gallery of card styles.
- Help pages: FAQ, a searchable help centre, a planned-maintenance page, a coming-soon page, and the two-step code and "check your email" screens.
- A product page you can copy for any product: what it does, why it's
different, how it works, questions, and the details search engines read.
/product/sampleshows every section filled in.

Fixed
- Security improvements following a review. Nothing you use has changed.
- Confirmation dialogs keep keyboard focus inside them. While a confirmation such as "Delete" is open, Tab no longer reaches the page behind it and screen readers no longer read that page out. When the dialog closes, the page is back as it was and focus returns to the button you pressed.

Added
- Approval flow (
/components/approvals). Raise a request and its amount decides who has to approve it. Approve, reject or return a request for changes with a comment, and see the approver chain, who is covering for whom, when a waiting step escalates, and a history of everything that happened. You cannot decide your own request. - Tickets (
/components/tickets). A helpdesk queue with My tickets, Unassigned and All views, filters, search, sortable columns, due times shown in words, an "updated" marker and bulk actions. A ticket page shows the whole conversation (public replies, internal notes that only the support team can see, and every change), a reply box with attachments, the ticket's properties, watchers, linked tickets and its approval. A ticket can only move along the allowed statuses, and cannot be resolved while its approval is still open. Hardware requests raise an approval automatically. - Session timeout warning (
/components/session-timeout). A dialog that warns you before you are signed out for inactivity and lets you stay signed in. Closing it counts as staying, never as signing out, and staying signed in from one tab moves the clock in your other tabs too. - Toasts (
/components/toasts). Short messages after something you did. Errors and messages with an action such as Undo stay until you dismiss them. The others fade after 10 seconds, and wait while you point at them. - Loading states (
/components/skeleton). Placeholders shaped like the content that is on its way, and a screen reader is told when it starts and finishes loading.

Added
- Invoice (
/components/invoice). An invoice you can read, print and pick from a list. Every amount is worked out in exact pounds and pence, and VAT is shown for each rate. Print gives you the invoice on its own, on A4. - Chat panel (
/components/chat). A conversation with your messages on one side and theirs on the other, a "new messages" marker, attachments, and a box where Enter sends. New messages are read out to screen readers. - File upload (
/components/file-upload). Drop files or choose them. Each one shows its own progress and whether it uploaded, was blocked by the virus scan, failed (with a Retry button) or was not accepted, and why. - Forum (
/components/forum). Threads with reply counts, last activity, pinned and locked threads, search, and replies you can aim at a particular earlier reply. - News board (
/components/news). Announcements with category filters, a form to post your own, a Like button and pinned posts. - Document library (
/components/library). Category tiles open a searchable list of documents, with a path back to the tiles. - Stepper (
/components/stepper). A three-step form where each step is checked before the next opens and going back keeps what you typed. - Activity timeline (
/components/timeline). Who did what and when, grouped by day, with the before and after of a change.
Everything you add on these pages lasts until you close the browser, and files you choose are never kept.
Fixed
- The theme menu failed on any page whose address includes an id, such as a forum thread.

Added
- Calendar: drag an event on a phone or tablet - hold it for a moment, then move it. Drag the bottom edge of an event in the week or day view to change how long it is (events an hour or longer). A red line on today shows the time the page was opened.
Fixed
- Calendar: "today" follows UK time. In summer it used to stay on yesterday until 1am.
22 September 2026
Changed
- Push notifications: a test push now goes only to your own device, and a subscription is deleted after 30 days.
- Themes: following your device's dark mode now makes the whole page dark, including buttons, close icons and form controls.
- Charts have a "Show the data as a table" link, and each line or series has its own shape, so colour isn't the only way to tell them apart.
- Accessibility fixes across the site: a clearer focus ring on the sign-in page, the kanban board's menu only moves a card when you press Move, wide tables scroll from the keyboard, and screen readers now hear which page you're on.
- The top bar has an account menu, and the sign-in page lets you look round as an administrator or a standard user in one click.
- Error pages say more plainly what happened and how to get help.
- The help button now explains the page you're on.
- New pages: a real guide, an accessibility statement, and an updated privacy notice and trust centre that match what the site actually does.
- Support: the page now gives the email address that reaches a person, and says plainly that the demo form doesn't send anything.

Added
- Calendar (
/components/calendar). Month, week and day views. The day view gives each person their own column side by side, so you can see who is free when. Choose who to show, and colour events by person or by category. Click an event for its details, drag it to a new day or time (or, in the day view, across to another person), and add, move or delete events. Every event also has a form, so nothing depends on dragging. - Gantt chart (
/components/gantt). Tasks grouped into workstreams, with progress, milestones, a marked "today", and three zoom levels. A task that starts before something it waits for has finished is flagged as blocked, with the reason. Drag a bar to reschedule it or drag its ends to change how long it takes; every task also has a form. - Image gallery (
/components/gallery). A responsive grid you can filter by type, that opens a lightbox with arrow-key navigation. Each picture has real alt text and is a plain link when JavaScript is off. - Video player (
/components/video). A custom player on the page and in a popup, with captions, a transcript, speed, volume, full screen and keyboard shortcuts. It never plays by itself. - A form in a popup on the Forms page. It opens as a proper modal, and reopens with each problem explained if you submit it with mistakes.
- Charts (
/components/charts), typography (/components/typography) and breadcrumbs on every page.
Changed
- Foundry is now live. It was in beta; the beta notice is gone and the sidebar badge says Live.
- On a phone: the Gantt chart's task names are narrower so the bars are visible, the video player's controls sit beneath the picture instead of covering it, and the calendar and Gantt say when to swipe sideways.
Fixed
- Several things that looked right while developing but broke on the live site: dropdowns and charts not working, the push notifications page, unstyled email previews, the map's stylesheet, and the priority cards on the Forms page.
- Pages scrolling sideways on a phone, from the footer and from tables.
19 September 2026 (even later the same day)
Changed
- The trust centre (
/trust) is now built to be copied, not just read - the page is written so another project can copy the file and fill in its own answers section by section, the same way the four brand-guide page shells already work as "the file to copy". Foundry's own answers on the page are unchanged in substance, but two of them were quietly out of date and are now corrected: this showcase has had a real database and one entity (a Web Push subscription) since the earlier push-notifications feature, so "no database at all" was no longer true and has been replaced with what's actually stored and how it's retained. A new table maps common supplier security-questionnaire questions to the sections that already answer them.
19 September 2026 (later the same day)
Added
- A new Settings area (
/settings) - a reusable page/nav pattern any project here can copy: General, Single sign-on, Multi-factor authentication, Password policy, Remember me, and User management, plus a working example of how another project adds its own section without touching the shared nav code. Since this showcase has no accounts, a clearly-labelled "demo role" switch stands in for a real permission check, so you can see sections appear and disappear exactly the way a real admin-only setting would - try switching to "standard user" on the page itself. - The password policy section explains, in plain terms, why the default is a 12-character minimum rather than forced symbols/numbers - current UK government (NCSC) guidance on passwords.
- The "Remember me" section shows a duration that can only ever be shortened from a 30-day maximum, never lengthened past it.
19 September 2026
Added
- A new Kanban board showcase (
/components/kanban): drag a card between columns, or use its own "Move to" control - both genuinely save the move for your visit. Built to be copied into another project unchanged, after two sibling apps were each found to have already built their own version of this independently. - Real, clickable column sorting on the data table (
/components/table) - click a column heading to sort by it, click again to reverse direction. Search and pagination still work exactly as before, together with sorting. - A new map showcase (
/components/map): a real, self-hosted Leaflet map with OpenStreetMap tiles, synced to a filterable, sortable list of sample locations - filter by type, sort by name or type, click a location in the list to pan the map to it (or click a pin to highlight its row). - Real browser push notifications, demonstrated at
/components/push-notifications- subscribe on this device, then send a genuine test notification to it, even with the tab closed. This is a worked example for anyone building the same thing, not a feature of this showcase itself (see that page for what it does and doesn't cover). - A new visual identity: a terracotta accent, two new self-hosted fonts (Space Grotesk for headings, IBM Plex Sans for body text), and a light, brand-tinted sidebar replacing the old dark navigation panel.
- A collapsible "Components" group in the sidebar navigation.
- Row selection and a bulk-action bar (including a real CSV export) on the data table.
- A trigger-card radio group and a toggle switch, demonstrated on the feedback form.
- A danger-zone icon on the destructive-confirm modal.
- A new status-badge component, demoed in the sidebar footer.
- The API reference page (
/api/doc/) now carries Foundry's own branding rather than Swagger UI's stock look.
Fixed
- Several places - buttons, links, the favicon, the in-app logo, the active sidebar item's text - were still showing the previous accent colour after it had supposedly already changed. All now show the correct one.
- The sign-in page's layout was mirrored against the intended design (the form and the dark panel were on the wrong sides) - corrected.
9 September 2026
Added
- A public "What's new" page (
/changelog), linked from the footer of every shell, rendering this file. This is the reference implementation every other project on this machine copies for its own release notes — see theuser-guidesskill's "Publish it as a page, linked from the footer" section.
